MICE AFRICA is Back!
Africa is taking the MICE industry to another Level in Meeting Africa 2023.
South African Tourism (SA Tourism) has signaled a strong recovery from the Pandemic by organizing Meeting Africa 2023, after 3 years of absence.
The African tourism performance numbers highlighting that total arrivals in 2022 period increased by 151.9 per cent to reach 5.0 million of arrivals over the same period in 2021.
This Pan African Business Events Trade Show „Meeting Africa“ in its 17th edition, had hosted 270 professional MICE buyers representing 60 countries; held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa, from 27 February to 1 March 2023.
This hosted buyer program was the most optimal platform for both Buyers & Suppliers to interact, built strategic partnerships & create unique opportunities for Africa’s business events sector.
South African Tourism has partnered with all nine provinces to host Meetings Africa familiarisation pre and post-tours for the most influential buyers in the world together with International & continental Media representatives to experience South Africa’s business events facilities and establishments.
Gtour Travel & Events was part of the Meetings Africa Hosted Buyer‘s program, were it show-cased the country’s New Tourism attractions, New Hotel Properties, Quality Land Services and World Class Convention Facilities.
The post tour was organized by South Africa National Convention Bureau (SANCB).
Mr. Tshepo Maseko from The Convention Bureau Officer of SANCB, and Mdu Biyela from the Tourism KwaZulu-Natal were joining the group of delegates coming from Malaysia-Mauritius-Singapore- USA-Mexico-Austria-India & Germany.
The tour included visits to Kwazulu-Natal Northern Province featuring several convention centers, including the Olive Convention Centre and the Durban International Convention Centre with its state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, Quality Catering offers, Parking facilities, high-speed internet access and ample spaces for large-scale events.
During the tour, delegates also had the opportunity to visit the Hidden Gem of Drakensberg Cathedral Peak Hotel & Brand New Radisson Blu hotel in Umhalanga-Durban, which is located conveniently in the most prestigious part of the city, making it an ideal location for business travelers and convention visitors.
The post tour was a great success; it show cased South Africa’s dedication to benchmark it self as a MICE facilities provider against International Standards in the Industry.
It also gave the small businesses and entrepreneurs a unique opportunity to interact and engage with hosted buyers presenting their businesses and services to international Markets.
